What is it?
Manual therapy is any treatment technique which involves your therapist using their hands or physical maneuver or to help alleviate and resolve your condition, pain or injury. The aim is often to improve movement and function of the affected area which will, in turn, relieve pain and speed up recovery.
What can I expect?
Sometimes undressing to expose the body part – For example; wearing shorts if you are treating knee pain, so that your therapist can see clearly how the joint is moving and working
Thorough assessment of your posture, movement, flexibility, strength & function
Your therapist will likely palpate or passively move the affected area to feel for restrictions and/or pain
Hands on treatment techniques
It is normal to feel a little tender within the area being treated for 24-48 hours after treatment
Improved joint & soft tissue mobility
Reduced scar tissue
Improved muscle & joint function
Restoration of normal joint mechanics
Better quality of life / return to normal activities and sports
