Cannot recommend them enough! Vera is amazing and has helped me so much with alleviating pain. Her stretches help me at the gym a lot as well and I’m lifting much better because of her. Love her process and knowledge!

Very experienced, professional and genuinely caring team. I’ve been receiving physiotherapy treatment with Theo for the past 8–10 weeks, and he has been amazing throughout the entire process.

My case is a little more complex, so I knew from the beginning that recovery would take time, but I have been extremely happy with the progress. Theo is very knowledgeable, takes the time to understand how I am feeling at each session, and adjusts the treatment accordingly. Most importantly, I consistently walk out of the clinic feeling significantly better and pain free.

The whole team makes you feel well looked after, and you can tell they genuinely care about their patients and their recovery. I would highly recommend Theo and the clinic to anyone looking for experienced and trustworthy physiotherapy care.

A few months ago, I suffered another double herniated disc and was in severe pain. Since I've already had three disc surgeries, my doctor recommended doing everything possible to avoid another operation.

After a disappointing experience at another physiotherapy clinic, I found Scandinavian Physiotherapy and started treatment with Vera. It was the best decision I could have made. She asked all the right questions, found the right approach, and showed me exercises that have made a huge difference.

I'm not completely pain-free yet, but my pain is now much more manageable and I've improved far more than I expected.

The whole team was also fantastic. Everyone was friendly, super professional and always quick to help with appointments or any questions I had.

I couldn't be happier with the care I received and would highly recommend Vera and the entire team at Scandinavian Physiotherapy.

In Dubai’s summer, we commonly see dehydration-related muscle cramps, calf strains, and lower back tightness due to fatigue and poor recovery. Recreational sports injuries—especially shoulder issues from swimming and knee pain from running on hard indoor surfaces—also increase. Sudden transitions from inactivity to intense activity in air-conditioned gyms contribute to overload injuries.

Extreme heat accelerates fatigue and reduces endurance, meaning muscles tire faster and lose coordination. This increases the likelihood of strains or improper movement patterns. Recovery is also impaired because dehydration affects circulation and nutrient delivery to tissues. In Dubai, many people underestimate how much indoor-to-outdoor transitions stress the body.

Absolutely. Dehydration reduces electrolyte balance, particularly sodium and potassium, which are critical for muscle function. This leads to cramping, reduced muscle efficiency, and delayed reaction times. In Dubai’s climate, even short periods outdoors can significantly impact hydration levels, especially for active individuals or those exercising after work.

Exercise early morning or late evening to avoid peak heat. Hydrate consistently—not just during exercise but throughout the day. Wear breathable clothing and reduce intensity compared to winter months. Acclimatization is key; gradually expose your body to heat rather than jumping into full sessions. Listening to fatigue signals is essential.

Physiotherapy can address muscle fatigue through targeted recovery strategies such as soft tissue work, guided stretching, and load management. At Scanphys, we often help patients adjust their training intensity and correct movement inefficiencies that become more pronounced under fatigue. This reduces injury risk while maintaining performance during hotter months.

Swimming often leads to shoulder impingement (“swimmer’s shoulder”), neck stiffness, and lower back strain due to repetitive movement patterns. Treatment focuses on improving shoulder stability, correcting technique, and strengthening supporting muscles. In Dubai, where swimming is a popular summer activity, we also emphasize mobility and posture to prevent overuse injuries.

Treadmill running can alter stride mechanics and increase repetitive load on joints. We assess biomechanics, running technique, and training volume. Treatment includes strength work (especially hips and calves), mobility, and gradual load progression. In Dubai, many runners shift indoors during summer, so adapting training properly is crucial to avoid overload injuries.

Yes, physiotherapy plays a key role in identifying overtraining patterns and correcting imbalances. Many gym-related injuries stem from poor technique or excessive load without adequate recovery. We focus on movement quality, joint stability, and structured programming. In Dubai’s indoor gym culture, overtraining is common due to consistent year-round access.

Persistent pain, swelling, reduced range of motion, or weakness are key warning signs. If pain alters your movement or doesn’t improve within a few days, it should be assessed. In Dubai, people often push through discomfort due to busy schedules—early intervention prevents minor issues from becoming long-term problems.

Focus on consistency rather than intensity. Maintain hydration, prioritize recovery (sleep and nutrition), and adjust training loads. Strength training is essential to support joints and prevent overload. At Scanphys, we often guide patients on how to stay active safely without completely stopping exercise during Dubai’s extreme summer conditions.

Indoor training reduces heat-related risks but introduces other factors like repetitive loading and less natural variation in movement. While safer from a temperature standpoint, improper technique or excessive frequency can still lead to injury. A balanced approach—combining indoor training with proper recovery—is ideal for Dubai residents.

Physiotherapy helps individuals adapt their training to environmental stressors like heat. This includes optimizing movement patterns, improving strength and flexibility, and managing recovery. In Dubai, where conditions are extreme for several months, physiotherapy ensures you stay active year-round without compromising your long-term physical health.

At Scanphys, we see everything from running-related overuse injuries to acute strains from gym training or team sports. The most common include:

  • Muscle strains and ligament sprains
  • Tendon injuries (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff)
  • Knee issues (meniscus irritation, ACL rehab, patellofemoral pain)
  • Shoulder problems (impingement, instability, labral irritation)
  • Lower-back and neck pain related to training
  • Post-surgical sports rehabilitation

Our physiotherapists are athletes themselves — we understand the demands of performance and tailor treatment to get you back stronger, not just pain-free.

Your session always begins with a structured, evidence-based assessment:

  • A detailed conversation about your symptoms, training routine, and goals
  • Functional tests to understand how you move
  • Orthopaedic tests to pinpoint the injured structure
  • Strength, mobility, and neuromuscular control screening
  • If needed, coordination with imaging or specialist referral

We don’t guess — we measure. And our diagnosis is always paired with a clear explanation so you understand exactly what’s going on and how we’ll fix it together.

Your home program is simple, targeted, and easy to follow.

We prescribe only what actually accelerates recovery — no long lists of random exercises. Expect a combination of:

  • Mobility drills to reduce stiffness
  • Strengthening targeted to your specific injury
  • Neuromuscular control and balance work
  • Gradual return-to-sport progressions

You’ll receive videos and clear guidelines so you always know how to perform the exercises correctly and how often.

Treatment depends on the grade of injury, but typically includes:

  • Hands-on therapy to reduce pain and swelling
  • Progressive loading to stimulate tissue healing
  • Strength and stability training
  • Return-to-play progressions based on objective milestones

We avoid outdated “rest and hope for the best” approaches. Instead, we follow the latest research to rebuild strength, mobility, and tissue resilience safely.

Absolutely — that’s one of our core goals.

We identify why the injury occurred in the first place: weak links, mobility restrictions, training errors, or movement compensations.

Your tailored program then reinforces strength, control, and biomechanics so you return to activity with confidence and lower re-injury risk.

Scanphys therapists specialise in spinal rehabilitation. Treatment may include:

  • Manual therapy to reduce tightness and irritation
  • Joint mobilisation or manipulation when appropriate
  • Targeted strengthening of deep stabilising muscles
  • Posture and movement retraining
  • Ergonomic or training-load guidance

Whether it’s a disc issue, facet irritation, muscle spasm, or posture-related pain — we treat the cause, not just the symptoms.

Post-operative rehab is one of our strengths. We work closely with leading surgeons and follow each procedure’s specific protocol.

Your plan will include:

  • Pain and swelling management
  • Step-by-step mobility restoration
  • Strength rebuilding with clear, safe progressions
  • Gait retraining when needed
  • Functional and sport-specific return phases

We guide you from week one to full return to work, sport, and daily life — with transparency and measurable progress.

Usually yes — and in many cases, we encourage it.

We help you stay active without aggravating the injury by modifying:

  • Exercise selection
  • Load and intensity
  • Technique and movement patterns

Staying active speeds recovery as long as you train smart. We’ll tell you exactly what to keep, what to modify, and what to avoid.

Treatment combines hands-on techniques with targeted rehabilitation:

  • Manual therapy to restore motion and reduce stiffness
  • Strengthening of the muscles that stabilise the joint
  • Neuromuscular and control training
  • Biomechanics correction and technique coaching
  • Gradual return to full activity

Whether your goal is lifting pain-free, running again, or improving daily comfort — we build a plan around your exact needs.

We’ll give you clear, personalised guidance — but in general, avoid:

  • Pushing into sharp or worsening pain
  • Sudden increases in training volume or intensity
  • Ignoring swelling, stiffness, or weakness
  • “Testing” the injury too early

Healing requires the right balance of loading and rest. We’ll keep you on the safest and fastest path forward.

Every body is different — so every plan is, too.

We adjust treatment based on:

  • Age
  • Training history
  • Lifestyle demands
  • Sport-specific needs
  • Injury severity

Whether you’re a youth athlete, weekend runner, busy professional, or retired and staying active, your program is tailored to your goals, abilities, and recovery speed.

Why Some Gym-Goers Never Build Muscle Despite Training Hard

Training hard in the gym and lifting heavier weights but not seeing visible muscles could be frustrating. When you’re putting in the effort and doing everything you think is right, it’s discouraging to look in the mirror and not see any muscle growth. While training is important, muscle growth also depends on proper muscle activation, […]
