    Trigger Point Treatment

Trigger points are often small patches of tightly contracted muscle, which causes a cut off of the blood supply leading to discomfort and pain. Trigger points can cause direct pain, complicate injuries and mimic other problems (referring pain elsewhere in the body).  Apart from pain, trigger points may cause numbness, tingling, weakness, or lack of normal range of movement.

Through manual techniques the physiotherapist is able to break the self-sustaining vicious circle that has kept the muscle contracted. These techniques aim to increase the circulation, thus enabling oxygen and nutrients to again flow and restore muscle balance.
